4 things you need to know about chipped windscreens
4 things you need to know about chipped windscreens

1. Chipped windscreens don’t always need replacement
You’re driving along minding your own business, when *CRACK*, a small rock is flicked up off the road by the vehicle in front. The end result is normally a small star shaped crack or a bulls eye mark, in the top layer of glass of your windscreen. It quite often can look worse than it actually is – so don’t assume that the glass needs replacing at this point.
2. Don’t leave a chip repair too late
Left untreated the damage will usually develop into a long crack. A long crack cannot be repaired. However if caught early enough, the minor damage in the glass can be fixed through a very straight forward process of injecting acrylic resin directly into the damage, then curing the resin under a high frequency ultraviolet lamp.
3. It isn’t a waste of time
A chip repair will save you time and money (if you had to wait for the glass to be replaced, then wait for the car to be safe to drive again, typically you’re looking at 2-3 hours of wasted time). A typical windscreen can be repaired in around half an hour and you can drive the car straight away.
4. You’ll save a wad of cash
By repairing the crack, rather than waiting until the glass needs replacing, you’ll save around $200 against the cost of having to replace the entire windscreen. If you have comprehensive car insurance with glass repair and replacement cover, you can usually recover the cost of our service from your insurer. All leading insurance companies fully support repair and will reimburse your costs upon presenting a legitimate invoice from a certified and licensed company like us.
